CANDIDACY RETREAT - Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM - IAUMC Conference Center - Candidates for ministry in the Iowa Annual Conference  have the opportunity to participate in a candidacy retreat as part of their candidacy process. All candidates who enter the process as of January 1, 2018, are required to attend a candidacy retreat though any candidate in process is welcome, regardless of when they began their candidacy journey. 2019 STATISTICAL REPORTS - DUE FEBRUARY 14, 2020 - Letters were mailed/emailed to all church Pastors, Treasurers, Finance Chairs, and church Secretaries/Office Managers the week of December 2nd, 2019 regarding the collection of Statistical Information from local churches for calendar year 2019. Reminder: Username is 6-digit GCFA church number followed by the letter "p" for pastor and "o" for other. IN MISSION TOGETHER (former Rainbow Covenant): reporting due February 15 - The time has come to turn in your first IN MISSION TOGETHER missions reporting form for your church. This replaces the Rainbow Covenant form and it’s a new way of reporting. We hope you’ve attended one of the many explanation and training meetings that have been held around the Conference. FRESH EXPRESSIONS VISION DAY - Sat, February 15, 2020 - 9:30 am – 3:30 pm - First United Methodist Church, 206 SW Walnut Street, Ankeny, IA 50023 - 

Fresh Expressions is a movement that is cultivating new forms of church alongside existing congregations in order to reach a changing world. Begun in England 10 years ago, it has resulted in the birth of over 2,500 new communities in the UK alone. PROPOSED CIRCUIT MODEL for churches unveiled at Vision 2032 Part II Sessions -  After considering all suggestions from the first round of the Vision 2032 series last fall, the Bishop's Operational Team has proposed that a few changes be made to make the Iowa Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church a stronger conference beginning as early as this year.  Read more...


INTEGRATED LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP - Friday, March 20, 2020 at 6:00 PM to Saturday, March 21, 2020 at 2:00 PM - Oakland, IA - The focus of the workshop is family systems theory and how to be a non-anxious leader in anxious times, a very timely subject for leaders and lay persons in the UMC right now. The workshop is being led by Rev. Bill Selby, Director of the Center for Pastoral Effectiveness of the Rockies. The workshop is sponsored by the Riverside Church Association. The cost is $25 per person, $40 for two people, and $15 per person for 5 or more people from the same church/staff. SPRING 2020 ORDERS & FELLOWSHIP EVENT - Rebuilding the Connection - March 24-25, 2020 - The event will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 24 and conclude at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25 at
Ankeny, First UMC Christian Life Center (710 NE 36th Street, Ankeny, IA 50021). 

Whether the United Methodist Church ends up in one, four, or even more pieces, we must admit that the Connection has not been functioning well in the Iowa Conference. Join us as Rev. Dr. Greg Jones, Dean of Duke Divinity School, helps us begin to rebuild the Connection as we look at reasons why the Connection has suffered and how every United Methodist pastor in Iowa can, by the grace of God and power of the Holy Spirit, look at themselves and others in ways which can help us better function as the Body of Christ. LAITY DAY WITH BISHOP LAURIE - Saturday, April 4, 2020 9:00 AM-4:00 PM - Ames, First UMC (516 Kellogg Ave)

The full day of activity will include Bishop Laurie’s presentations, worship, missional topics, lunch and closing communion.   ​There will also be displays helpful to local church leaders.
