Hope for Harvey Mission Team

July 30, 2018

Early Saturday morning, July 21, 2018, teens and adults from the Northeast and East Central Districts loaded two motor coaches in Cedar Rapids and departed for the Rio Conference in Texas.
The "Hope for Harvey" mission team spent the week in La Grange, Texas, helping build new, permanent housing for people who will soon be giving up temporary FEMA trailers in the area that was devastated by the rain, winds, and flooding of Hurricane Harvey, in August of 2017. La Grange sits about halfway between Houston and Austin near the Colorado River.
District Disaster Coordinators and Mission Team Leaders, Pastors Phil Rogers and Keith Pitts, rallied the team during luggage and equipment loading and led a prayer circle to ask God's guidance and safety for their travel and work.
Support vehicles and trailers with food and tools were a part of the team. An overnight stop was planned in Wichita, KS, during each leg of the north-south travel. The team returned Sunday, July 29.
